The Golden State Warriors' free agent plans this offseason have been focused on LeBron James.

But what if a different legend, one with great memories in the Bay Area, could be next to sign with Golden State?

Klay Thompson apparently isn't ruling out a return to the Warriors.

In a video newly circulating, Thompson was implored by a fan to go back to Golden State. Thompson's response: "Never say never."

Thompson is currently a member of the Dallas Mavericks, and the 2026-27 season will be his last season under his current contract.

That would make Thompson an unrestricted free agent next summer. While he and the current Warriors aren't getting any younger, there'd certainly be something sentimental about bringing Thompson back to town.

Thompson will turn 37 in February, and it was way back in 2011 that the Warriors made him the No. 11 overall pick in the draft out of Washington State.

The son of Mychal Thompson, Klay won four NBA championships with the Warriors. He was with them for 13 seasons, 11 of those healthy.

Thompson averaged 19.6 points per game with the Warriors while shooting a blistering 41.3% from 3-point range as one half of the Splash Brothers combination with Steph Curry.

If Thompson went back to the Warriors next summer, it's unlikely that they'd be adding someone to compete for a championship. It would more so be a way to wind down the best era of hoops the Bay Area has ever seen.

Thompson was a huge part of that, and maybe he could return before the rest of the stalwarts of this dynasty leave for good.
