Without Stephen Curry in the lineup for the Golden State Warriors' 93-117 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on May 8, Steve Kerr made the unique decision to run with a 12-man rotation. That rotation stretched to 14 players once it was clear the Warriors weren't going to mount a comeback.

During his postgame news conference, Kerr explained the reasoning behind such a deep rotation. The veteran head coach noted that without Curry, he was searching for combinations and patterns that would click, and give the team an opportunity to be competitive throughout the contest.

"We have to figure out what we're gonna be able to do in this series without Steph, and so, we gave a lot of people a lot of chances, and then some guys really stepped up," Kerr said. "Trayce and JK were both really good in this game. You could see that their athleticism was important...But we learned a lot, and I think this game will help us figure out how to move forward."

Curry is currently sidelined with a grade one hamstring strain. Without him, Kerr is right to try to find opportunities for others on the team, especially if it aids Golden State in remaining competitive against the 2024 Western Conference Finalists. Still, going 12-14 deep in the playoffs in a choice that will certainly garner some attention.

Nevertheless, it's clear some members of the rotation relished the challenge. And now, Kerr must decide who earned themselves a bigger role as the Warriors prepare for game three on Saturday, May 10.
