Warriors' Draymond Green reportedly meeting with ex-Laker LeBron James in final recruiting pitch originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The Golden State Warriors are putting everything into landing four-time NBA champion LeBron James this summer. The organization knows this is likely its final opportunity to maximize the championship window with Draymond Green, Stephen Curry, and Steve Kerr.

Golden State is going all out in its pursuit of James, and it would be a franchise-altering move if the Warriors can land him. Curry already held a meeting with James in June.

“Pairing him with Stephen Curry is going to be something that the Warriors are going to pursue over the next few weeks… It seemed very doubtful, it seemed low percentage, now it’s kind of questionable. Now there’s going to be some legs to this… That same source told us that Steph is planning on meeting and talking with LeBron about potentially joining the Warriors over the course of the next few weeks leading up to free agency,” NBA insider Brett Siegel said.

Just last week, the Warriors organization also met with James to discuss the possibility of him joining the team.

“LeBron James is preparing to meet with the Warriors this week as an unrestricted free agent. After Draymond Green opted out today, Golden State has the necessary flexibility to sign LeBron and trade for Anthony Davis. LeBron leaving the Lakers is gaining significant traction,” NBA reporter Evan Sidery wrote.

Now, another week has brought another meeting. This time, Green is reportedly meeting with James to discuss the possibility of joining forces in Golden State.

“LeBron James and Draymond Green are meeting up as the NBA's all-time leading scorer looks to join a new team for the 2026-27 season, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. Charania reported that James and Green are spending some time here together this week at an undisclosed location during a Tuesday appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show,” Bleacher Report’s Zach Bachar wrote.

The Warriors have explored nearly every possible avenue in their pursuit of James. From Curry meeting with him to organizational discussions and now Green's reported meeting, Golden State has made its interest unmistakably clear. The only question remaining is whether those efforts will be enough.

A lineup featuring James alongside Curry, Green, Jimmy Butler, and Kristaps Porzingis would immediately become one of the NBA's most star-studded groups. The continued meetings suggest there is at least mutual interest in exploring the possibility, but whether that ultimately results in James joining the Warriors remains to be seen.
