Former Indiana State Sycamore Colin Rea received the win Wednesday as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 6-2.

Rea pitched five innings and allowed two hits, a run, walked two and struck out two. Rea now has a 3.18 earned-run average.

On April 3, Rea pitched 3.1 innings in a 4-1 loss to the Cleveland Guardians. He allowed four hits, a run, walked one and struck out four.

During ISU's 2011 season, Rea posted an 8-4 win-loss record, along with a 3.68 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 95.1 innings pitched.

He was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 12th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft. Rea broke into the bigs in 2015 with the Padres, and has pitched eight major-league seasons since then with the Marlins, Cubs, Brewers and then again with the Cubs, as well as a year in Japan.

• On Wednesday, former Sycamore Sean Manaea pitched four innings in a 7-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. He allowed five hits, two runs, walked two and struck out two. Manaea now has a 3.00 ERA.

• Former Sycamore Grant Magill had a three-run homer for the High-A Winston-Salem Dash on Sunday in a 10-5 road win against the Bowling Green Hot Rods. He also had two runs scored.

• On March 31, former Sycamore Randal Diaz was promoted to the Washington Nationals' High-A affiliate, the Wilmington Blue Rocks. In an 8-3 victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades on Wednesday, Diaz had two hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Then in a 2-0 loss to the Renegades on Thursday, he reached base once on a walk.

• On Tuesday, Northview graduate Braydon Tucker received the loss for the Double-A Reading Fightin Phils. He went four innings and allowed three hits, two runs, walked three and struck out four. Tucker now has a 2.25 ERA for the season.

• Former Sycamore Luke Hayden started and went four innings for the High-A Dayton Dragons in a 7-4 win over the Lake County Captains on Thursday. He allowed five hits, three runs, walked three and struck out four. He now has a 4.50 ERA.

• In a 10-5 win for the High-A Winston-Salem Dash over the Bowling Green Hot Rods on Sunday, former Sycamore Grant Magill had a hit, three RBIs and two runs scored.

• Terre Haute South graduate Tim Herrin pitched 0.1 innings on Tuesday in a 2-1 victory for the Cleveland Guardians over the Kansas City Royals. He walked one and grabbed an out. Herrin also pitched on Sunday in a 1-0 loss to the Cubs when he pitched an inning and struck out two. He also pitched 0.1 innings in a 4-2 loss to Kansas City on Monday and recorded one out.

• Former Sycamore Matt Jachec pitched in an inning of relief and allowed two hits, three runs, walked one and struck out two.

• In a 13-5 loss for the El Paso Chihuahuas to the Albuquerque Isotopes, former Sycamore Clay Dungan reached base once on a walk.
