The 337 high school sports scene has been showing out with postseason matchups happening every day of the week.
Boys and girls soccer seasons have come to an end with Teurlings Catholic boys snagging the only LHSAA state title in Division II. The 2026 Indoor Track and Field season has also come to an end. The march to Marsh Madness is alive and well for boys and girls teams with the boys playing their opening round games and the girls playing in their quarterfinal games.
With the postseason for winter sports in full swing and spring sports kicking off, there were plenty of athletes to choose from for this week’s Athlete of the Week poll.
Here are the nominations for the athlete of the week for Feb. 16-22, which includes athletes from boys basketball, girls basketball, boys soccer and indoor track and field. Voting will close at 9 a.m. Friday.

Kendrick Bernard, boys basketball, Carencro: In the Golden Bears’ LHSAA Select Division I opening round game vs Bonnabel, Bernard came out hot, knocking down trey after trey. The senior dual-sport athlete ended the game with a team-high 21 points to lead his team to a 69-51 win over the Bruins.
Luke Breaux, boys soccer, Teurlings Catholic: All season long, Breaux has played a key role in the Rebels’ historic postseason run to the LHSAA Select Division II championship. The senior forward was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Match after his team took down Prairieville 2-1.
Taybriana Delasbour, girls basketball, Catholic-N.I.: Before the Panthers’ season came to end in the second round of the playoffs, Delasbour played a pivotal role in the first round. The senior had a double-double in their 47-13 win over Sarah T Reed, scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Kenzie Marceaux, girls basketball, North Vermilion: For the first in 40 years, the Patriots are heading to Marsh Madness after beating South Beauregard, 51-45. Marceaux played a key role leading her team’s offense with 18 points despite battling the flu.
Terry Matthews, indoor track and field, Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy: At the 2026 LHSAA Indoor State Track and Field Championships, Matthews shinned on the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse. He took home first place in the Division II 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8:18.
Ja’Nia Senegal, girls basketball, Teurlings Catholic: The journey to Marsh Madness continues for the Rebels after beating Liberty Magnet 62-48 in the LHSAA Select Division I quarterfinals. Listed at 6-foot, Senegal ran point and finished the game with 17 points, seven rebounds and a block.
