With the Stark County OHSAA sports season over for the 2025-26 school year, we're going to look back at the best of the school year.
Your vote will determine Stark County Best of the School Year for teams, coaches and athletes.
This week, we ask who you think was the best boys and girls high school sports teams of 2025-26? Each team’s credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 5 p.m. Monday, July 13. The winners will be announced July 14 on CantonRep.com.
Now, let's meet the candidates selected by the Repository sports staff.
Finished as the Division VI state runner-up.
Finished as the Division III state runner-up.
Qualified for the state tournament for the third straight year.
Won its first team state championship, winning three individual state titles, too.
Won the Division VI state championship, the school's first state title.
Won the Division II state championship, the school's first state title in basketball.
Finished as the third in Division IV at the state meet.
Finished as the third in Division I at the state meet.

Canton Central Catholic basketball
Finished as the Division VI state runner-up.
Louisville softball
Finished as the Division III state runner-up.
Marlington volleyball
Qualified for the state tournament for the third straight year.
Perry wrestling
Won its first team state championship, winning three individual state titles, too.

Lake Center Christian baseball
Won the Division VI state championship, the school's first state title.
Massillon basketball
Won the Division II state championship, the school's first state title in basketball.
Fairless track
