Hovland and Scheffler finished regulation tied at 21-under 259 after a tense, rain-delayed final round on the green. Scheffler forced the playoff by making an 8½-foot par putt on the 72nd hole. The sudden-death playoff was moved to June 29 due to the delay. Then on the par-4 18th, both players found the fairway with a yard or 2 apart. Hovland birdied just inside 7 feet, while Scheffler barely missed the birdie with half the distance allowing for the final victory to be Hovland’s.
