Vanderbilt baseball's game against Georgia on April 18 entered a delay because a light pole went out above Georgia's dugout at Hawkins Field.

The light pole was restored at 7:48 p.m. Both teams returned to the field for warmups, and the game officially resumed at 7:56 p.m. after a delay of just under an hour.

The delay happened in the bottom of the third inning with the Commodores leading, 5-0, and an 0-1 count on Colin Barczi with Braden Holcomb on first base after a walk. The delay began shortly after 7 p.m. The umpires first conversed for several minutes and then pulled both teams off the field.

A Vanderbilt spokesperson told The Tennessean that the team was working with an electrician to get the light turned back on.

The Commodores (28-10, 9-7 SEC) won the first game of the series over Georgia (33-7, 10-6), 3-1.

A similar issue happened when the Commodores played Georgia in 2014. In that game, it was the outfield lights that lost power and Vanderbilt was unable to restore them, causing the game to be suspended and resumed as part of a doubleheader the next day.
