For the second straight season, USC Upstate baseball is in the NCAA Tournament.
The Spartans (33-28) will be the No. 3 seed in the Tuscaloosa Regional, hosted by national No. 7 seed Alabama (37-19). They will open NCAA Tournament against regional No. 2 seed Oklahoma State (37-20) on May 29 (2 p.m. ET, ESPN+) followed by No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Alabama State (34-21) at 7 p.m.
USC Upstate earned its spot in the NCAA Tournament after winning the Big South Conference championship May 25, taking down Longwood, 8-1, in the final game of the tournament. The Spartans, who were the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament, won their second consecutive conference title after taking its first trip to the NCAA Tournament last season.
The Spartans bowed out of last year's tournament after two games. As the No. 4 seed in the Clemson Regional, they lost to the Tigers, 7-3, and No. 3-seeded Kentucky, 7-3. This season, USC Upstate has a better chance of earning its first-ever NCAA Tournament win.
