The college football offseason is in full swing and as the North Carolina Tar Heels prepare for spring practices in the next few months, they made an addition to the roster on Sunday.

Western Carolina transfer quarterback Taron Dickens officially signed with North Carolina on Sunday, becoming the latest quarterback to enter the mix with the Tar Heels. The FCS quarterback was looking for a new home out of the transfer portal and he didn't have to look far.

After North Carolina lost Max Johnson, Gio Lopez and Bryce Baker in the transfer portal, they needed to add to the quaterback room. Dickens is the latest addition, joining Billy Edwards Jr. and Miles O'Neill from the transfer portal while freshman Travis Burgess also joins the roster. Au'Tori Newkirk returns from last year.

Dickens spent three seasons at Western Carolina. He threw for 3,508 yards, 38 touchdowns and two interceptions last season. He also had a 74.2 completion percentage. Dickens broke the NCAA record for most consecutive pass completions in a game with 46.

With this addition, the competition in UNC's quarterback room amplifies a bit.
