2026 is a make-or-break season for the UNC football program, which enters Year Two of the Bill Belichick era with heightened expectations.
North Carolina reloaded its new-look roster with strong, high school recruiting and transfer portal classes, adding names like Derek McDonald and Travis Burgess. These new guys will be tested in live gameplay, with matchups against traditional powers like Clemson and Miami (FL).
As fans prepare for the fall, they can now start planning for three more games. On Wednesday afternoon, the Tar Heels announced kickoff times for their matchups with East Tennessee State, the Tigers and UConn.
UNC will host ETSU for its home opener on Saturday, September 12 at 12 p.m on the ACC Network. A week later, North Carolina travels to Death Valley for a 12 p.m. kickoff at Clemson on ESPN. On Saturday, November 7, the Tar Heels travel to East Hartford, Conn. for a 12 p.m. clash with the Huskies on CBS Sports.
UNC begins its 2026 campaign with a TCU rematch on Saturday, August 29 at 12 p.m. in Dublin, Ireland. After facing the Tigers on their home turf, North Carolina enters its first bye week, then hosts Notre Dame for a Game of the Year candidate on October 3.
The Tar Heels play Pitt (Oct. 10) and Duke (Oct. 17) two straight weeks on the road, then welcome Syracuse (Oct. 24) and Miami (Oct. 31) in consecutive home clashes. UNC also hosts Louisville (Nov. 14), travels to Virginia (Nov. 21) and ends its season at home vs. NC State (Nov. 28).
As North Carolina gets deeper into its offseason, expect additional game times to be released. For now, start making those game day plans.
