North Carolina dropped in the AP Top 25 poll for the second straight week, falling two spots to No. 18.
The Tar Heels, who were No. 16 last week, went 1-1. UNC lost to NC State 82-58 last Tuesday, its largest defeat to the Wolfpack since 1982, with Henri Veesaar and Caleb Wilson out because of injuries. Veesaar returned for the next game and had 19 points and three blocks in a 77-64 win over Syracuse.
UNC is the third-highest ranked ACC team in the AP poll, behind Duke and Virginia. The Blue Devils moved up to No. 1 after beating then-No. 1 Michigan and No. 2 Houston and losing to then-No. 4 Arizona last week. The Cavaliers climbed two spots to No. 11, their highest ranking of the season.
Louisville came in at No. 24 after losing to SMU and beating Georgia Tech last week. The Cardinals play UNC on Monday.
Three ACC teams also received votes: Miami (10), NC State (8) and SMU (4).
