HIGHLIGHTS
- The main event headliner needed less than four minutes to put away a veteran contender and announce himself to the featherweight division's top tier.
- A co-main event winner extended the longest active winning streak in women's strawweight and backed up a bold championship claim.
- Multiple finishes across the card produced $100,000 bonus checks and a Fight of the Night that ended with a broken jaw.
Kevin Vallejos passed the test with flying colors. The rising star from Argentina made quick and relatively easy work of veteran featherweight contender Josh Emmett. The end was quick and destructive as Vallejos looks ready to take the next step towards title contention.
Here’s a look at every finish from the card including Vallejos nightcapper that earned him one of the night's performance bonuses at the Apex in Las Vegas.
How Did Kevin Vallejos Beat Josh Emmett?
Vallejos (18-1, 4-0 UFC) opened with a standing elbow that sliced Emmett's forehead open almost immediately. A counter right hand dropped Emmett and the 24-year-old Argentinian never let him recover.
He pinned the veteran against the fence and unloaded punches and elbows until Herb Dean had seen enough. The official stoppage came at 3:33 of Round 1 via TKO. The striking numbers told the whole story: 43-3 in Vallejos' favor.
Emmett, 41, has now lost five of his last six fights dating back to his interim title loss against Yair Rodriguez at UFC 284. Vallejos came through the Contender Series in 2024, knocked out Giga Chikadze along the way, and now has eight first-round finishes on his record.
The featherweight division has a real problem on its hands.
Who Won the UFC Vegas 114 Bonuses?
The UFC handed out $100,000 Performance of the Night bonuses to Vallejos and Manoel Sousa. Sousa landed a vicious knockout punch in his lightweight bout against Bolaji Oki in Round 3 that left Oki unconscious on the canvas.
The Fight of the Night ($50,000 each) went to Marwan Rahiki and Harry Hardwick.
That featherweight scrap was violent from start to finish, with Rahiki breaking Hardwick's jaw. Hardwick's corner stopped the fight after the second round.
