Chase Hooper couldn't get the job done on the scale at UFC Fight Night 281. That wasn't the case when it came time to perform inside the octagon, though.

Hooper (17-5-1 MMA, 9-5 UFC) mauled Mitch Ramirez (8-4 MMA, 0-3 UFC) on the mat en route to a first-round submission on Saturday at Paycom Center in Oklahoma. He got the catchweight bout to the mat early, took the back and locked in a rear-naked choke for the tap at the 2:15 mark of Round 1.

After falling short in his past two outings, Hooper said he was proud to put thing back on a positive note. He did not apologize for the weight miss, but expressed excitement about the looming birth of his child.

"It feels great. I told my wife, 'I'm not losing three in a row, that sh*t ain't happening,'' Hooper said in his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier. "My two checks is going to help out with that new baby (with my pregnant wife)."
