The BMF title is conceptually all about the blood, guts and violence.
While fight fans didn't get many of those things in the UFC 326 main event, they got a lopsided masterclass by one of the two involved in Saturday's title fight.
Charles Oliveira defeated Max Holloway for the BMF title with a five-round shutout, winning a unanimous decision (50-45, 50-45, 50-45) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
From the opening seconds, Oliveira showed he was bigger, stronger, and more skilled, particularly in the clinch and grappling department. He stunned Holloway and planted him 30 seconds into the bout. In each round, Oliveira only needed one takedown to spend the remainder of the round on top on the canvas.
He worked rear-naked chokes and neck cranks, but Holloway, who has only been submitted once in his career, did enough to survive. Oliveira landed hard elbows from the back.
Holloway had a brief glimmer of success in the final round, as he stuffed an Oliveira takedown and briefly ended up on top. Wanting to escape the ground and in need of a finish, Holloway tried to get up but Oliveira seized that moment to reverse position.
There was a wild striking exchange in the final 10 seconds. But even then, Oliveira got the better of the exchange.
When the scorecards were read, Oliveira won every round from every judge. As requested, his father was the one to present him with the BMF title.
With the victory, Oliveira has won back-to-back fights since a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria in June 2025. Holloway is 2-1 in his most recent three with the recent loss also coming against Topuria.
