Martina Borrellas twice provided heroics to extend the game, and the University at Albany women's basketball team made sure those efforts paid off Saturday as the Great Danes wrapped up their regular-season home schedule with a 69-63 double overtime win over UMBC on Saturday at Broadview Center.

Borrellas hit a driving layup with 15.7 seconds left in regulation to force overtime, capping off an 8-0 UAlbany (14-13 overall, 4-10 America East) run to tie the game. Then, with UAlbany up by three in the final seconds of the first overtime session, Borrellas drained a 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds left to send the game to a second overtime.

A free throw by UAlbany's Gabriela Falcao, a senior playing her final regular-season home game, put the Great Danes up 55-54 at the start of the second overtime. They led the rest of the way, with Borrellas making UAlbany's only field goal of the second extra session while the team's 13-of-14 performance from the free throw line over the final 3:41 sealed the victory.

Delanie Hill scored a game-high 19 points, Amaya Stewart scored 16 and Borrellas scored 11 for UAlbany, which had mustered just 36 points through the game's first 38:23 before an 8-0 run in the final 1:37 of the fourth quarter forced overtime.

Carmen Yanez led three UMBC players in double figures with 13 points.

With the win, UAlbany solidified its America East playoff positioning with two games left in the regular season. The Great Danes are currently the No. 7 seed, two games ahead of New Hampshire and UMass Lowell.

UAlbany wraps up its regular season this coming week, visiting Maine on Thursday and New Hampshire on Saturday.
