The Los Angeles Lakers have two key players in the 2026 Summer League — Cameron Carr and Adou Thiero.
Carr is their most recent first-round pick, taken No. 25 overall in the draft, and looks like a player who can grow into a key piece for the future.
He is a lanky guard who can play some small forward, with the ability to create off the dribble and catch-and-shoot.
Thiero, on the other hand, is entering his second season, with his first mainly spent in the G-League.

Given his size and explosiveness, the Lakers will need Thiero to become a key rotational player, filling in at the forward spot.
He can be a great team defender who rebounds on both ends and poses a lob threat to Luka Doncic.
Considering how valuable wing players are, the development of Thiero and Carr will be important, especially since the Lakers lack much in terms of draft assets going forward.
Luckily, they are really impressive down in Las Vegas in the Summer League.

Carr, in his debut, scored 18 points in 29 minutes, going 7-for-13 from the floor. He showed his ability to create offense off the dribble, and while he only shot 1-for-5 from deep, he still looked very impressive and polished.
He ended up missing the Lakers’ next game, though he could play in the finale against the Clippers on Tuesday.
Thiero, on the other hand, has played in both games and looks to be as advertised. As a forward, he collected four rebounds and four assists, shooting 8-for-14 from the floor in 30 minutes against the Thunder in the first game.
Against the Mavericks in the second game, he went 4-for-12 with 15 points and four more rebounds. His second game was not as good as his first, but Thiero is painting a clear picture of what he brings — a high motor, rim finishing, defensive chaos, and a low-usage player who can help a team in multiple ways.
In both Carr and Thiero, the Lakers look like they have two gems that could contribute more than expected — especially in Thiero’s case, due to the need at forward.
