This is a great time of the year to be an NFL fan, with news, rumors, and speculation popping up every time you look at social media.

One of the latest to come up for the Tennessee Titans comes at a position that hasn’t been talked about a ton on social media or by national outlets: their backup quarterback. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN finally mentions it and adds an interesting name to the mix: Mitchell Trubisky.

In backup QB news, Mitchell Trubisky has garnered interest as a quality No. 2. The Titans, Bills, and Jets are among the teams on the radar here. One name to potentially watch as a backup in Carolina: Kenny Pickett.

It is easy to connect some dots as to why there could be some interest between the two parties. Trubisky has an outstanding relationship with the new Titans offensive coordinator, Brian Daboll, from their time in Buffalo.

There is no doubt that Trubisky has struggled as a starter for both the Chicago Bears and the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he is widely viewed as a strong backup. In fact, the last time he played under Daboll with the Bills, he parlayed that reserve role into the opportunity to sign with Pittsburgh.

Tennessee does have Will Levis on the roster behind Cam Ward, but bringing in a veteran who has experience with Daboll’s system would be a benefit for the Titans, who will start implementing the new system when they kickoff OTA’s.
