Robert Saleh was busy on Monday, holding multiple interviews for the Tennessee Titans' open offensive and defensive coordinator positions. And while no news broke on the coordinator openings, one of those being interviewed will be a part of the Titans staff.

Per Ian Rapoport, the Titans are hiring Dallas Cowboys defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton as their run-game coordinator/defensive line coach, reuniting him with Saleh in Nashville. While this initially looked like a lateral move, the additional responsibilities as run-game coordinator make it a promotion.

Whitecotton and Saleh have a long history together, coaching together from 2014-2016 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and then together with the New York Jets during Saleh’s tenure as head coach. While he has yet to be a defensive coordinator in the NFL, he brings over 10 years of experience on the defensive side of the ball, and also interviewed with the Cowboys for their opening earlier in the offseason.

Whitecotton joined pass-game coordinator Tony Oden on Saleh’s initial coaching staff with the Titans.
