On Thursday, the Tennessee Titans lost two important pieces of their roster, wide receiver Elic Ayomanor and John Franklin-Myers, who were forced to leave practice early due to injury.
After the session, head coach Robert Saleh spoke about the injuries and gave an initial report stating Franklin-Myers had some lower back stiffness that should not be an issue, but Ayomanor was being evaluated for a potential shoulder injury after being hit by Kevin Winston Jr. on an end zone play. During the breakdown, Saleh did point out that the immediate tests on Ayomanor’s shoulder did not show any structural issues and that it was stable, but also stated more tests were needed.
Now, less than 24 hours later, it appears that the Titans may have dodged a bullet, and Ayomanor may be available for the scrimmage scheduled for tonight at Nissan Stadium.
This is great news for Cam Ward and the Titans’ offense. Through the early portions of training camp, Ayomanor has been arguably the best receiver on the roster and appears to have taken a significant step forward in his second season.
Still, even if he is cleared, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Ayomanor sit out tonight’s scrimmage to be fully recovered ahead of next week’s joint practice session and preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers.
