Tennessee Titans' first-team All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons was arguably the best defensive lineman in the NFL last season. Despite the numbers to back up that claim, he was ranked number 83 on the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2026 list. That placement immediately agitated the Titans' fanbase, as they know what they saw from him last season.

Simmons, who recently became the highest-paid interior defensive lineman in NFL history, led all defensive tackles in sacks (11) and tackles for loss (17) last season. He notched career-highs in both categories and QB Hits (21) as the Titans’ most disruptive defender.

Simmons has consistently been viewed as one of the NFL’s premier defensive tackles, often drawing double‑teams and still producing at a high level. His leadership and presence on Tennessee’s defensive front have made him a cornerstone of the franchise’s identity, even while the team has struggled during recent seasons.

Landing at number 83 places him lower than many expected, especially considering his resume, production, and the respect he commands from opponents. While the ranking reflects a crowded field of elite talent, it also displays how easily interior defensive linemen can be undervalued in league‑wide lists.

For Simmons, the placement adds fuel to an already competitive fire. For the Titans, it’s another reminder of how essential he is to their success heading into the 2026 season.
