Led by Petersburg's Miley Tingler, the captain of the Class AA All-State team, eight locals landed on the first or second teams of the West Virginia Class AA and A All-State teams revealed by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association this week.
Tingler earned the honor after batting .574 with 12 home runs, six triples, 17 doubles, 48 runs batted in and 69 runs scored.
She was joined on the Class AA first team by teammates Ella Chew and Shyane Tawney.
Chew, a catcher committed to Potomac State, hit .450 with seven big flies, five triples, 15 doubles, 49 RBIs and 47 runs, and infielder Tawney posted a batting .439 clip with two triples, six doubles, 22 ribbies and 48 runs.
East Hardy's Madison Strosnider, a senior signed to Richard Bland, appeared on the Class A first team. Strosnider was a .526 hitter adding a home run, four triples, 11 doubles, 22 RBIs and 16 runs.
Locals making the Class AA second team were Petersburg's Ella Markwell (.423 AVG, 6 home runs, 49 RBIs), Frankfort's Dayahna Imes (.447 AVG, 32 runs) and Jordan-Marie Owens (.430 AVG, 9 triples, 41 runs), and Moorefield's Brenna See (.372 AVG, 10 home runs).
Petersburg's Gracie Carpenter and Moorefield's Grace Simmons were honorable mentions.
