There have been questions about the Oklahoma City Thunder potentially moving on from Chet Holmgren after a tough Western Conference Finals against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.

Holmgren has been a very good player throughout his young career and seems to be a big piece of the Thunder's future.

However, that hasn't stopped many from suggesting that he should be traded because of how poorly he played in that series.

Wembanyama was clearly the better player, and to make matters worse, it seems like Holmgren was in his head a bit against the French big man.

While a trade always seems possible when it comes to Sam Presti making a big move, one insider recently shut it down, suggesting that the consensus around the league at the moment is that Holmgren won't be traded.

“In the wake of the Thunder’s loss to the Spurs in the West finals, there was an online 'Trade Chet' movement that took hold, given the way Chet Holmgren had struggled against Victor Wembanyama. One Western Conference exec told Heavy a week ago, “I don’t know what in Sam Presti’s history makes anyone think that’s the road he is going to go down.”

“Circling back around, nothing has changed there. And, no, the Thunder won’t seek to trade Jalen Williams, either, though concerns about his persistent hamstring injuries remain,” Sean Deveney of Heavy reported.

As Deveney touched on here, Presti has made the big moves, but he doesn't always act irrationally.

He typically thinks everything through, and moving on from a kid as young as Holmgren, who has proven what he has, would be a very irrational move for the NBA's top executive.
