For the time being, at least in the short term, the Nittany Lions will just have to wait and see which remaining class of 2027 prospects will sign with them. However, that does not mean they have not been proactive in their continuous search for raw talent in the mold of Matt Campbell. Now, with the summer coming around, Penn State will have another class of 2027 safety to look forward welcoming to Happy Valley.

After offering three star safety Caleb Cooper, the safety scheduled his official visit with the Nittany Lions the weekend of June 5-7. This ensures that the Nittany Lions will be in the top three schools for Cooper. Still, they will have a lot of competition, including form an old friend turned rival in James Franklin, now at Virginia Tech. Wisconsin and Tennessee are also in the race for Cooper's signature, but the team that Penn State should be wary of is their former head coach's new one.

Cooper is another prospect who seems like he could flourish under Matt Campbell's tutelage. As a junior this season, he had 97 tackles, with five for loss, with six pass breakups and two forced fumbles. That energy could end up taking Cooper to a whole other level in Happy Valley. His recruitment could be paramount to the Nittany Lions building up depth amongst an already stellar recruiting class.

Cooper is not the top priority at safety for the Blue and White, with four star Cooper Ohnmacht their most coveted target at the position. Still, they must consider the change that will come next year and continue to prepare for filling those roles.
