If you've been following the PGA Tour's 2025 Butterfield Bermuda Championship and think you're hallucinating because you see someone occasionally putting with only one hand, you're not going crazy.

Adam Schenk, who finds himself tied for the lead early in the final round at Port Royal Golf Course, has been using the technique for a little while now, but it has really shined this week as he went into the final round tied for the lead. Often times he has two hands near the putter, but there's only one doing the job, and it's working.

Theres no ShotLink this week in Bermuda, but Schenk was in the top-20 in putts per hole going into the final round.

"I should write down all my putting thoughts so I could look back at them in 10 years and laugh at myself," Schenk said Saturday after a 4-under 67 had him tied for the lead with 18 holes to go. "Just been putting mostly one handed. This week, today it was too windy at times when the wind was -- when we were protected from the wind I could use one hand and hit a lot of nice putts. Had a couple lip-outs. I don't think I made any today with one hand, but I would put the left hand just barely on top so it was basically like putting right-handed."

Whatever it takes

Top golfers are willing to try almost anything to give themselves an advantage. Schenk's putting strategy is one not seen much outside of friends goofing around on a Saturday or at a putt-putt course, but this time it's happening at the highest level with a seven-figure pay check on the line.

He's not doing it for every putt, especially in the windy conditions in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, but it's become a common part of his putting routine, and it's working.

"Made a nice putt on -- two par putts on 8 and 9 and then 10 and 11 were bonuses, Schenk said Saturday. "Hit a great putt on 12, didn't go in, and then made a bonus putt from really far away on 13."

As the final round progresses Sunday, Schenk's putting is sure to be a focal point if he remains in contention. Perhaps he'll use only one hand to knock in the winning putt if he's in that position.
