Thiccer Kicker or Karty Party? Sean McVay reveals Rams' kicking plans for Week 11

The Los Angeles Rams officially moved on from Alex Ward as their long snapper Monday, cutting him from the team and signing Jake McQuaide to the active roster. For at least the next week, they’re going to stick with the change they made at kicker, too.

Sean McVay told reporters on Monday that the team will go with Harrison Mevis as their kicker for Week 11 against the Seattle Seahawks. McVay says “the future is bright” for Joshua Karty still and the Rams will keep working with him, but it’s Mevis’ job to lose.

Mevis replaced Karty in Week 10 after being signed to the practice squad, making all five of his PATs against the 49ers. He did not attempt a field goal but looked comfortable on extra point attempts.

It was Mevis’ first game as an NFL player after only playing in the preseason previously. Karty missed a league-high eight kicks in his first eight games of the year, struggling mightily with his trajectory and accuracy.

We’ll see if Karty gets another crack at the job this season but for now, the Thiccer Kicker has put a temporary end to the Karty Party.
