Happy NBA free agency to all who celebrate! The official start of the league's signing period is 6 p.m. ET, but we've already seen a boatload of signings that took some of the bigger names off the table.
With that in mind, we're going to list the best remaining names, even with some rumors swirling about those players coming off the board soon enough. Some of them are restricted free agents, meaning an offer sheet can be matched by the team that the player was just rostered on. The unrestricted free agents can go anywhere.
Got all that? Let's run through the best remaining names who are available as of publishing this Tuesday morning:
There's a report that he could sign-and-trade with the Sacramento Kings, but for now, he's here. The Detroit Pistons big man had a great year but a rough postseason, so that might explain why the franchise won't offer him the max he can get. And maybe there's more to his game coming that will improve.
He's LeBron. You know the resume. With the Lakers re-signing Austin Reaves, there's not a ton of room for the legend to sign for in Los Angeles, but maybe he stays in California to play with Steph Curry and the Warriors. Or he could take his talents back to South Beach. We'll see.
The veteran guard made the All-Star team last year and may be too pricey to return to the Miami Heat. There are a few teams who could back up the Brinks truck for him.
It's been fun to see the forward blossom as a shooter from beyond the arc. Floor stretching forwards are valuable to contenders!
A shot blocker and rebounder who could stick with the Utah Jazz. But if they can't come to an agreement? Keep your eyes on him.
Dude is a do-it-all kind of player who will likely stay with the Denver Nuggets.
The 33-year-old still has value as a scorer and shooter. Any team that needs a vet could grab him.
Don't sleep on the 3-and-D forward who blossomed in his first few years with the Rockets. I doubt he leaves, but it would be fun to see someone offer sheet him.
By all accounts, seems like he's not going anywhere, but you never know! We have some landing spots if he somehow doesn't stay with the Dubs.
The New York Knicks center is an awesome interior defender and a heck of a rebounder on both ends. Someone's going to pay him even though his free-throw shooting is abysmal.
Time Lord is still valuable as a center who can block shots and rebound. He played 59 games last year after playing 61 in the past three seasons, so there's some hope for health.
