The past few seasons, the Buffalo Bills have had a fairly consistent offensive line. It’s been one of the best in football, actually. The group is led by left tackle Dion Dawkins and right tackle Spencer Brown. These two are usually responsible for dealing with the best pass rushers in the league who are trying to get to quarterback Josh Allen. And Dawkins and Brown will have their work cut out for them this season.
The team is set to face seven of the top ten players who finished atop the league in sacks last season. Buffalo was set to avoid sack leader Myles Garrett but after his trade to the Los Angeles Rams last week, that is now back on the table.
If you remember when Allen faced Garrett last year, that’s the game Allen’s broken bone in his foot occurred when trying to avoid a sack.
To open the season they will face Danielle Hunter of the Houston Texans who finished third in sacks and had a field day against the Bills last year, registering 10 pressures on just 34-pass-rushing snaps in that primetime victory for Houston.
Expecting a break after Week 1? Think again — the following week Buffalo welcomes Aidan Hutchinson in the debut of their new stadium. Other players the team are set to face include Nik Bonitto of the Denver Broncos, Maxx Crosby of the Raiders, and Micah Parsons of the Green Bay Packers. Bears outside rusher Montez Sweat is no slouch, and still quite the physical specimen at EDGE.
There’s also the new crop of pass rushers that were selected in the NFL Draft. The New York Jets drafted David Bailey at No. 2 overall, so he’ll be facing the Bills twice a year being in the division. To pair with Tuli Tuipulotu the Chargers drafted Akheem Mesidor to rush the passer at No. 22 overall.
Buffalo’s offensive line will be see its fair share of quality pass-rushing talent this upcoming season.
