Texas Tech has landed a commitment from Amari Barrett, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard in the 2026 class, he told Rivals.

Barrett is unranked nationally but is considered a three-star prospect. He is a back-to-back state champion at Millwood High School (OK) and was originally committed to Ball State before reopening his recruitment.

“I chose Texas Tech because the coaches believe in me, showed love from the beginning, and the winning culture of the program,” he said. “My relationship with the coaches is very genuine which allowed me to trust them.”

Barrett played on the EYBL Circuit this spring with Mokan Elite, averaging 9.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.2 steals per game.

“I would describe myself as an all around basketball player and not put myself into a box,” he said. “My play style is just an ultimate competitor. I’m excited to be apart of the Red Raider family. Can’t wait to compete this season!”

Barrett becomes Grant McCasland’s third high school commitment in the 2026 class, joining four-star shooting guard Dakari Spear (No. 33 NATL) and unranked small forward Trey Hall. The Red Raiders are also bringing three transfers into the program in UNLV guard Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn (20.7 PPG), Wyoming guard Damarion Dennis (11.2 PPG), and Hofstra guard Cruz Davis (20.1 PPG).
