In a 2025 season that ended with extremes for the Arizona and Texas Tech baseball teams — Arizona reaching the College World Series, Texas Tech reeling to its worst record in 40 years — perhaps the oddest of oddities is that the Red Raiders won two of three against the Wildcats.

In a three-game Big 12 series in Lubbock, Tech sandwiched 12-3 and 9-3 victories around a 2-1 loss. Arizona's one win came courtesy of a strong pitching performance from righthander Owen Kramkowski, who went seven innings.

Kramkowski's scheduled to be back on the mound when Arizona hosts Texas Tech in the opener of a three-game conference series on Friday, March 20. First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. CDT at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson, Arizona.

Arizona went 44-21 last year and won the Big 12 tournament but is only 7-13 this season and 1-2 in the Big 12. The Wildcats dropped the last two in a three-game conference-opening series last weekend at Utah, then lost at home on Tuesday, March 17, to New Mexico.

Tech is 13-7 and 2-1 in the Big 12. The Red Raiders won their first two Big 12 games at home last weekend at Kansas, dropped the series finale and lost on Tuesday at Dallas Baptist.
