Texas softball ace Teagan Kavan recorded her second career no-hitter as the No. 3 Longhorns (19-1) capped an unbeaten weekend at the Longhorn Invitational with an 8-0 win over Incarnate Word (14-7) Sunday at McCombs Field.

With the victory, Texas extended its winning streak to 17 consecutive games, which ties for the fifth-longest winning streak in program history.

Kavan, a junior right-hander, plunked the first batter she faced but retired the next 18 batters while striking out 10 in the six-inning game. Her other career no-hitter came last season in an 8-0 win over Missouri.

The Longhorns scored at least eight runs for the 15th time this season behind junior center fielder Kayden Henry, who finished with a team-high four RBIs and blasted a three-run home run in the fourth. It was Henry’s second home run of the season.

Senior second baseman Leighann Goode finished with a season-high three hits, scored twice and swiped her third stolen base of the season.

Kavan’s no-hitter capped an impressive weekend in the circle for Texas. After Citlaly Gutierrez allowed just one run in a 9-1 win Friday over Houston that opened the Longhorn Invitational, the Texas pitchers didn’t allow an earned run in the rest of the tournament. Brenlee Gonzalez picked up the win in Saturday’s 12-2 won over St. Bonaventure, and Cambria Salmon and Hannah Wells combined to shut out Prairie View A&M, 8-0, in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.

Texas opens SEC play at No. 22 South Carolina on Friday-Sunday at Carolina Softball Stadium in Columbia, S.C.
