Texas A&M opted for its "Operation Blackout" look against Mississippi State in Week 6 of the 2025 season, resulting in the Aggies' blowout 31-9 home win despite leading just 7-3 at the half. While wearing all-black wasn't the reason A&M defeated the Bulldogs, this look has become one of the more popular uniform decisions under third-year coach Mike Elko.
How the all-black look clashes with the opposing team's uniform is equally important from an aesthetic point of view, and on Thursday, Texas A&M announced that it will roll out the all-black uniform look, which could include both end zones in Kyle Field being painted black for the occasion, against Tennessee on Saturday, November 14, before the Aggies head to Norman to face Oklahoma.
The importance of the matchup will depend on how the first half of the Aggies' 2026 regular season pans out, needing to stay undefeated at home and win at least three of four road games vs. LSU, Missouri, Alabama, and South Carolina. If Texas A&M enters this game with just one loss, a spot in the College Football Playoff will be on the line, starting with a win over the Volunteers.
This will be the first time Tennessee travels to College Station since 2016, and just the sixth overall meeting between both programs. Back in 2016, former Texas A&M QB Trevor Knight led the Aggies to their 45-38 2 OT win over the visiting Volunteers, which still stands as one of the more exciting Texas A&M games in the last decade.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Texas A&M's red, white, and blue game will take place against Arizona State in Week 2 in remembrance of the 9/11 attacks.
