The Tennessee Titans were busy taking part in a physical joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday, but that didn't stop the coaching staff from taking some time to work out a specialist.
Special teams coordinator John Fassel and the Titans special teams staff worked out former Los Angeles Rams kicker Josh Karty to continue evaluating potential competition for Joey Slye.
Karty was originally a sixth-round pick of the Rams in the 2024 NFL draft out of Stanford, and he won the kicking job out of camp as a rookie. Unfortunately, he proved to be erratic during his two seasons with the Rams and was released in November 2025. For his career, Karty has converted 25-of-29 field goals and 55-of-62 extra points.
It's no surprise to see Tennessee work out another kicker with NFL experience after watching Slye struggle both in practice and during the Blue & White scrimmage. However, he was a perfect 7-for-7 against the 49ers in the joint practice.
The Titans will have to sort out their kicker situation before the end of training camp, but they still have some time and shouldn't be in a rush to sign someone. Slye had some erratic times in 2025, but managed to keep it together and had a quality season.
