The ECHL announced Thursday that Wheeling Nailers goaltender Taylor Gauthier has been named the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for March, adding another milestone to what has been a remarkable season for the 25-year-old goaltender.

Gauthier was outstanding throughout March. He posted an 8-1-1 record in 11 appearances. In those 11 appearances, he recorded two shutouts, a 1.73 goals against average, and a very impressive .949 save percentage.

Among his performances during the month were a 38-save effort in a shootout win at Trois-Rivières on March 20th and a 49-save performance in a 2-1 victory over Worcester on March 28th. He stopped all 34 shots he faced in a 4-0 shutout against the Railers on March 27th. That win marked Gauthier's 10th career shutout and set yet another record in Wheeling History.

This honor marks the first time Gauthier has been named ECHL Goaltender of the Month, and former Wheeling Nailers netminder Jake Smith earned the honor earlier in the season. Adding to the already impressive list of his many accolades that he gathered this season, he was named ECHL Goaltender of the Year and First Team All-ECHL selection in the 2023-2024 season.

During the course of this season, Gauthier has been one of the top goaltenders in the league, posting a 19-7-5 record in 32 games. He currently leads the ECHL with a .932 save percentage and ranks among the league leaders with a 2.00 goals-against average. There is no doubt that Gauthier has played a significant role in Wheeling’s success this season.
