FSU baseball has lost a member of its 2027 recruiting class.
Shortstop Juan Diaz announced he had decommitted from the Seminoles on Thursday, announcing the news on social media. He is from Hialeah, Florida, and attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He committed to FSU on Oct. 6, 2025.
Diaz had a strong junior season at IMG, playing in 25 games. He hit .393 with five home runs, seven doubles, and 20 RBI in 84 at-bats. He walked 11 times and struck out 11 times, finishing with a .485 on-base percentage and a .702 slugging percentage. He also stole nine bases
He is expected to play somewhere in the middle infield at the next level and made two errors as a junior, finishing with a .976 fielding percentage. He was one of FSU's top commits and will have a chance to be taken in the 2027 MLB draft.
FSU's 2027 recruiting class is led by Lincoln star and Tallahassee native Chase Fuller, who is arguably the best player in the country. A pitcher and shortstop, he led Lincoln to a state championship as a junior.
