The New York Jets have departed One Jets Drive for the 2026 NFL offseason after a disappointing 2025 season.

Under the watch of head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey, it didn't go well. The Green and White finished the year with a tough 3-14 record.

Despite that, the franchise is moving forward with the pair. Before the offseason begins, the duo spoke this past week as the team cleaned out their lockers and offices for the offseason.

What did Glenn and Mougey discuss?

Here are six quick takeaways from their end-of-season press conference:

Message to fans

Glenn took responsibility for the poor season, but moving forward, he said there is a "vision" in place to move the Jets forward.

“I expect and want our fans to have a total trust in us,” Glenn said.

Aaron Glenn's message to #Jets fans:

"There is a vision that we have, & there's a trust that we have in that also, & I expect & I would want our fans to have a total trust in us in being able to do that, & we have to earn that too, & our plan is to do that. We don't expect to… pic.twitter.com/Pla8PLwzWv

Quarterback position

Change is expected under center in New York. At the top, Mougey only said Justin Fields in "under contract." Not a good sign for Fields.

Most expect a young player being added via the 2026 NFL draft, but the offseason is young:

Speaking of the draft...

Mougey mostly downplayed the event, only saying he feels good about holding the No. 2 overall pick. At this early stage, there isn't much more the GM can say:

#Jets GM Darren Mougey feels very good about having the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 #NFLDraft.

Defensive coordinator front

Glenn discussed the search for a new defensive coordinator after Steve Wilks was fired in December. "Synergy" was a trigger word used.

“I like to be aggressive,” Glenn said. “I want to make sure the guy we do have, there’s a lot of synergy between us. There will be a number of coaches we take a look at.”

Want Breece back

It might be tough since running back Breece Hall has seemed to want out of New York, but both Glenn and Mougey said they both want the pending free agent back.

“I met with Breece yesterday and had some good conversations," Mougey said.

#Jets GM Darren Mougey & HC Aaron Glenn both said they want RB Breece Hall back when asked.

Mougey refused to answer a hypothetical follow up question about whether he’d consider using the franchise tag.

Glenn's learning curve

Overall, Glenn was more settled in general during his end-of-season press conference as opposing to his introductory one. That'll come after a 3-14 start to your coaching career.

Aaron Glenn reflects on being a rookie head coach:

"There's a number of things I know that I'll be better at...the confidence that I have in Moug, in our owner, in myself, in our foundational players, that's where the confidence comes from" pic.twitter.com/iJlHDa1GLg
