Ahead of the quarter-finals of World Cup 2026, we asked you for your predictions regarding who will win World Cup 2026 and which player will take home the Golden Ball, as part of the latest edition of SB Nation Reacts.
France, Spain, Argentina and England are the four seeded teams in the competition but it’s the defending champions who came out top in the vote ahead of their quarter-final tie with Switzerland on Sunday.
Argentina scooped 46% of the vote to finish top of the pile and ahead of France and Spain.

Our second question related to the Golden Ball – the trophy given to the tournament’s best player – and perhaps unsurprisingly it’s Lionel Messi who wins our poll.
The 39-year-old has been in inspirational form once again for Argentina, scoring eight goals in five games, and takes the No. 1 spot ahead of Kylian Mbappe.
