Suns injury update. Dillon Brooks has surgery on broken hand

Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks will be re-evaluated in four to six weeks after having successful surgery Feb. 23 on his fractured left hand, the team announced Tuesday, Feb. 24.

The Suns (33-25) face the Boston Celtics (37-19) on Tuesday at Mortgage Matchup Center, at 7 p.m.

Brooks was injured in the first quarter of Saturday’s 113-110 double-overtime win over the Orlando Magic Feb. 21. He sat out Sunday’s 92-77 loss Feb. 22 to the Portland Trail Blazers.

The veteran forward is averaging a career-high 20.9 points in his first season with the Suns.


Suns guard Jordan Goodwin will be re-evaluated in one to two weeks for a left calf strain, the team also announced Feb. 24.

Goodwin suffered his injury in the fourth quarter against the Magic to begin a four-game homestand. He's averaging 8.9 points in his second season with the Suns.

Devin Booker (right hip strain) will be re-evaluated later this week, while Haywood Highsmith (right knee injury management) is set for a re-evaluation in two to three weeks. The Suns announced Feb. 21 the injury timelines for Brooks and Highsmith.

Phoenix concludes their four-game homestand Feb. 26 against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Suns will then have four days between that game and their March 3 road matchup against the Sacramento Kings.

Cole Anthony is listed "not with team" as the Suns acquired him from the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team deal before the Feb. 5 trade deadline. Sources have informed The Republic the Suns will look to waive him at some point.
