Suns' Dillon Brooks dares to be confident before facing Stephen Curry, Warriors originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Dillon Brooks has developed quite the reputation in the association. He is the direct antithesis to most stars in the league. The Phoenix Suns forward aims to get under the skin of his opponents and see them crack under the bright lights. His aim in the NBA Play-In Tournament did nor change at all. Now, he sets his sights in winning over Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
Brooks, Suns prepared for Curry's Warriors in NBA Play-In Tournament
Prior to the Warriors' insane 126-121 NBA Play-In Tournament win to send the Los Angeles Clippers home, Dillon Brooks was asked who he wanted to face. His answer was more than expected, via Doug Haller of The Athletic.
"Steph and Draymond, and Steve Kerr," the Suns forward said.
Brooks ended up getting his wish. The Suns lost to the Portland Trail Blazers after a 41-point and 12-assist outburst by Deni Avdija. Now, the squad has a chip on their shoulder and an incentive to win against the Warriors. Like most wishes, Brooks should have been careful in letting those desires out. See, the Suns have only won once against the Warriors during their four-game season series. Even in that sole December 18 victory, the Suns only escaped Stephen Curry's Warriors by a single point.
This time, the forward vows that the outcome will be different for the NBA Play-In Tournament.
"I know we’re going to be ready to play," Brooks added.
Brooks' wish should be more than just facing the Warriors, it should be battering them to advance in the NBA Playoffs. Only time will tell if his desire was short-sighted.
