Leominster 4, Beverly 3: Sawyer Corbin lashed a two-out single to right to score Anthony Carpentier to tie the game, then Mark Garner (2 for 4) lined the first pitch he saw into right field to score Danny Frade with the winning run as Post 151 rallied for a walk-off win over Post 331 to open the American Legion state tournament at Fino Field in Milford.
A.J. Wozniak had two RBIs for Leominster, which advances to face Hyde Park at 4 p.m. Sunday. Danny Nelson gave up one earned run on three hits and fanned eight over 8⅔ innings for Post 151.
Franklin 2, Milford 1: Matt Pedroli singled and drove in a run, while Brady Iarussi, Gavin Metcalf, Jackson Fournier and Nick Pedroli also singled, but Post 59 couldn't get past undefeated Post 75 in the first round of the American Legion state tournament at Fino Field.
Colin Mont struck out seven and allowed no earned runs on five hits over seven innings for Franklin. Milford takes on Northampton at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Little League
New Jersey 7, Jesse Burkett 3: Madysen Smith singled twice, Sammy Butland doubled and scored and Darcy Molinari, Leah Becker and Ryan LeBlanc all singled, but Burkett couldn't get past New Jersey in the Junior League East Regional in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
Burkett will play against Connecticut at 9 a.m. Sunday.
