Jalen Hurts has had critics, doubters, and constant outside debate surrounding his value, but one number shows just how productive the Eagles quarterback has been since becoming Philadelphia's starter. Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia recently highlighted an impressive stat that ranks Hurts among the most productive quarterbacks in NFL history through their first 82 career starts. Hurts has thrown 109 touchdown passes and rushed for 63 more, giving him 172 total touchdowns during that span. That total ranks sixth all-time among quarterbacks through their first 82 starts.

Hurts trails only Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, Dan Marino, and Andrew Luck. Mahomes leads the group with 208 total touchdowns, followed by Rodgers with 197, Allen with 192, Marino with 189, and Luck with 178. Hurts is next at 172, ahead of Joe Burrow, Cam Newton, Daunte Culpepper, and Brett Favre.

The list shows why Hurts' production deserves more context. His passing totals are not as high as some of the traditional pocket passers on the list, but his rushing value changes the entire equation. Hurts' 63 rushing touchdowns are the most of any quarterback in the top 10, giving the Eagles one of the league's most dangerous red-zone weapons and a player who can finish drives even when the passing game is not operating at its highest level.

Since taking over for Carson Wentz in 2020, Hurts has become the central figure in Philadelphia's offense. He has helped the Eagles reach multiple Super Bowls, developed into one of the NFL's most efficient short-yardage threats, and given the franchise long-term stability at the sport's most important position.

The next step for Hurts is to continue growing under new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, with Philadelphia reshaping its wide receiver room and leaning on Saquon Barkley in the backfield. Still, the early-career production is already historic. For all the debate around style, scheme, and supporting cast, Hurts' first 82 starts put him in rare company.
