In one of Gaston County’s most storied venues, Stuart Cramer basketball standout Oshauna Holland utilized Cherryville’s Nixon Gym as a perfect setting to pen a historic chapter of her own.
The Wake Forest women’s basketball signee eclipsed the 3,000-point mark during her team’s 92-24 victory at Cherryville on Feb. 6. Holland achieved the career milestone on a short-range jumper during the third quarter of her team’s matchup with Cherryville.

Holland is the first Gaston County girls basketball player to accomplish the feat since adopting 5-on-5 rules in the 1969-70 school term. She’s the eighth player to reach 3,000 points statewide, joining a list including Clinton’s Danyel Parker (3,226 points, 1986-89); West Craven’s Jamie Cherry (3,209 points, 2010-2014); Williamston’s Katie Paschal (3,160 points, 2006-10); Smoky Mountain’s Cetera DeGraffenreid (3,081 points, 2003-07); Morehead’s Amy Simpson (3,067 points, 1995-99); Bunn’s Nakisha Stewart (3,037 points, 2001-05); and Terry Sanford’s Shea Ralph (3,002 points, 1993-96).
Prior to her team’s Feb. 6 game at Cherryville, Holland led Stuart Cramer in points (33.9), assists (7.1) and steals (7.8) per game, along with 8.6 rebounds per contest. In addition to helping the Storm up their record to 21-1, Friday’s win clinched the Southern Piedmont 2A/3A/4A championship, the program’s third league title in a row.
