Steelers to hire new special teams coordinator

Danny Smith's departure left the Steel City without a special teams coordinator, but a new report indicates the Pittsburgh Steelers may have found his replacement.

According to ESPN's Brooke Pryor, the Steelers are working to hire Danny Crossman as their new special teams coordinator.

Crossman began his NFL coaching career in 2003 as a special teams assistant coach for the Panthers. He was promoted to Carolina's special teams coordinator in 2005 and held the role until he joined the Detroit Lions in 2009.

Crossman spent the next decade and a half as a special teams coordinator for the Detroit Lions (2010-2012), Buffalo Bills (2013-2018), and Miami Dolphins (2019-2024).

With over 20 years of experience coaching special teams, Crossman will help make the transition away from Smith easier, as head coach Mike McCarthy continues to revamp his coaching staff.
