GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Ohio State quarterback Will Howard with the 185th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft Saturday afternoon.
At 6-foot-4 1/4 and 236 pounds, Howard led the Buckeyes to the 2024 College Football Playoff title. Howard completed 73% of his passes for 4,010 yards, 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2024.
During the CFP title run, Howard completed 82.8% of his passes for 311 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against Tennessee. He was 17 of 26 for 319 yards and three scores against Oregon in the Rose Bowl, a quarterfinal. He was 24 of 33 for 289 yards, one touchdown and one pick against Texas in the Cotton Bowl, a semifinal. In the title game against Notre Dame, he was 17 of 21 for 231 yards and two touchdowns. In the four CFP contests, he threw for eight touchdowns and two picks.
At Kansas State from 2020-23, Howard completed 58.8% of his passes for 5,786 yards, 48 touchdowns and 25 interceptions. In 2023, he was a 61.3% passer with 2,643 yards, 24 scores and 10 picks. He added a 59.8% clip for 1,633 yards, 15 touchdowns and four interceptions in 2022. Howard attempted 223 passes during his first two seasons for nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
During his five-year career, Howard rushed for 1,147 yards and 26 touchdowns. He supplied 364 rushing yards in 2020, 351 in 2023 and 226 in 2024.
Howard, 23, is a native of Downingtown.
All five of the Steelers' draft picks have come from the Big Ten: Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson, Ohio State outside linebacker Jack Sawyer and Iowa defensive tackle Yahya Black.
Howard joins the Steelers' quarterbacks room with Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson.
