The Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off a last-minute signing as the NFL legal tampering period is drawing to a close, adding a former Green Bay Packers first-round safety to their roster.
On Tuesday afternoon, Tom Pelissero of the NFL reported that the Steelers signed veteran safety Darnell Savage to a one-year deal.
Savage, who was selected by the Packers with the 21st overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, played out his rookie contract and left Green Bay in 2024 to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He was released by Jacksonville in September 2025 and signed with the Washington Commanders shortly after. Appearing in eight games, he was released by the Commanders and was claimed off waivers by the Buffalo Bills.
