On Saturday the Spurs visit the Suns.

It's possible the Spurs may bring back Kawhi Leonard for this game.

The wait for Kawhi Leonard’s return may finally be coming to an end. League sources tell the Express-News Leonard could make his season debut for the Spurs on Saturday against the Phoenix Suns barring any setbacks.

According to sources, Leonard participate in a final workout session Thursday. The team will re-evaluate Leonard on Friday. If all goes well, and Leonard feels OK, the two-time Defensive Player of the Year will travel with the team to Phoenix after Friday’s game against Boston to play in the second game of a back-to-back.

Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. Arizona time and will be televised on FSAZ.

Suns fans unite against the Spurs.

I knew Leonard was out but I didn't know he hadn't played at all this year. That makes the Spurs record all that more impressive, they're 3rd in the West right now at 17-8, they're 6th in the league behind the Warriors, Rockets, Boston, Cavs, and Toronto. Toronto has an extra win since they've played 1 more game than SA.

It's been a few years since they've been to the finals but it seems like they're about due to return. They had a dynasty under Duncan, winning 5 titles and making 6 finals over the span of 16 years. They need to return to be able to still be part of that, they have Parker, Ginobli, and Kawhi who were there for their last title in 2014. They've never had much success repeating as champs but they seemed to make it back to the finals every couple of years, winning titles in 99, 03, 05, 07, and 2014. The only time they made it to the finals in consecutives years they lost the first year, which was 2013.

The Spurs show there is a place in the NBA for coaching. They are not overly talented aside from Leonard and they are aging.

I'm not sure if this helps any, but the Celtics visit the Spurs tonight.

It figures.

What a nice rookie Tatum has become.

The Celtics draft Brown and Tatum respectively just before the Suns draft in the 2016-17 drafts.

They also trade for Irving and sign Gordon Hayward. :madarms:

Tatum is leading the league in 3 point percentage, shooting 52% from 3 on 3 attempts a game. I know people thought he'd be NBA ready and a good scorer but I don't think anyone predicted he'd be that good this quick. They'd be scary with Hayward but they don't really need him, which is scarier for other teams out East.

I think the Celtics with Hayward would have chance a legitimate chance at winning a championship and they are very good right now.

Tatum was the perfect draft pick. Indeed he is scary good.

These are the games that I hate. If we lose it’s demoralizing. If we win it’s rather meaningless as we beat a toothless team and it doesn’t indicate anything other than we can beat a team that’s not indicative of a real nba team. No win situation.

This is what I hate about Pop. He does what he thinks is best for his team. Other teams and the health of the league in general be damned.

I liked Tatum over Jackson. I like consistency, and when I watched Jackson I saw an inconsistent player who needed a lot of work. Tatum is polished.

You have good taste!

I think some posters were not high on Tatum because of a perceived lack of athleticism. Anyway, the Suns did not have an opportunity to draft him at #4. I was kind of hoping the Suns might draft Fox. The best draft choice for the Suns would have been Markkanen. Dennis Smith Jr. would have been a solid choice as well.

See, that doesn't bother me one bit. Suns are a bad, young team. I care about how they play regardless of their competition. Spurs without four starters are still a better team than Phoenix, Chicago, Atlanta, Nets, etc. I will be pleased if they win, and not demorilized if they lose.

But how does Hayward fit with Tatum on that roster?

As of this moment, that would have been the best choice.

Please don't reminds us of the choices the Suns have had. Josh Jackson is Michael Kid Gilchrist. ever team needs a defensive stopper. Quite a few of us did not want JJ. Reed is the scorer they drafted. I wish they drafted scorer first round then Bell from Oregon. Maybe JJ will learn to shoot, Kid Gilchrist has improved over the last three years.

Amazing that a coach thinks about his team and the best way to win long term.

Pop isn’t paid by the league to do a job. He’s paid by his team and he’s had that team be good to tithe great for over two decades. Hating what he does to stay there makes zero sense to me.
