The stage is set for a nail-biting final-day showdown between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United as both clubs battle to preserve their Premier League status. With the last weekend of the 2025/26 season approaching, neither side has managed to secure their top-flight survival, and the outcome remains firmly in the balance.

Roberto De Zerbi's Spurs had a golden opportunity to seal their Premier League safety on Tuesday when they faced Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. A single point would have been enough to secure their position and simultaneously condemn West Ham to the Championship.

However, strikes from Enzo Fernandez and Andrey Santos condemned the North Londoners to yet another loss, despite Richarlison pulling one back. That said, the equation remains straightforward for Spurs heading into the season's finale, as per The Mirror.

Should Spurs lose, they will be desperately hoping West Ham fails to overcome Leeds. If the Hammers do win, it will be West Ham who survive at Spurs' expense.

Away from the relegation drama, Tuesday also brought the title race to a conclusion. Spurs' North London rivals Arsenal were officially crowned Premier League champions.

Arsenal put themselves on the brink of the title with Monday's 1-0 victory over Burnley, and were able to pop the champagne corks just 24 hours later as AFC Bournemouth held Pep Guardiola's Manchester City to a 1-1 draw.

That result also secured Bournemouth a spot in the Premier League's top eight, which should be enough for the Cherries to punch their ticket to European competition.

A win for Bournemouth would have set up a final-day battle for a Champions League berth, but they now require a six-goal swing on the last day to leapfrog Liverpool. The two sides are scheduled to face off on Sunday at Anfield.

On the European front, several clubs remain in contention for a spot in continental competition. Brighton and Hove Albion, Chelsea, Brentford, and Sunderland could all sneak into the top eight on the final day of the season.
