Sophie Cunningham asked fans if they were ready for the release of her new Adidas basketball shoes. Their answer came quickly.

The Indiana Fever guard’s Crazy Energy “Sophie Cunningham” player-exclusive shoes completely sold out in both men’s and women’s sizes on the Adidas website by Friday morning, less than 24 hours after their highly anticipated release.

Cunningham celebrated the milestone by sharing a heartfelt message with her supporters on X.

“you guys really showed up! nothing but genuine love for yall,” Cunningham wrote.

The sellout provided another sign of Cunningham’s rapidly growing popularity, both in Indiana and throughout the WNBA.

Cunningham helped build anticipation for the release Thursday morning by declaring, “today’s the day,” in an X post tagging Adidas Basketball. Fans wasted little time responding. Most available sizes were already gone within hours, and the shoes had disappeared completely from the Adidas website by 10 a.m. ET Friday.

The Crazy Energy PE features a bright pink design with Cunningham’s personal logo and signature details. It is her first player-exclusive colorway with Adidas, the company she has represented since 2022. Although it is not officially considered a signature shoe, its immediate success demonstrated Cunningham’s value as one of the WNBA’s most marketable personalities. Player-exclusive releases do not always receive widespread retail availability, making the overwhelming response especially notable.

Cunningham had already appeared in several Adidas campaigns before receiving her own version of the Crazy Energy. Now, the company has tangible evidence that her fans are willing to support her products.

Sophie Cunningham’s popularity continues to soar

The shoe release arrived during what has been an eventful season for Cunningham. She entered the WNBA All-Star break averaging 9.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 42.9 percent from 3-point range. Her outside shooting and veteran presence have helped Indiana produce a 17-10 record, placing the Fever fifth in the league standings.

Cunningham has also emerged as one of the WNBA’s most recognizable personalities. Her candid interviews, social media posts and memorable on-court moments have regularly generated attention. A finger-pointing exchange with Phoenix Mercury veteran DeWanna Bonner became one of her most widely shared moments of the season. Cunningham’s popularity has continued growing beyond basketball as well, with her posts routinely drawing hundreds of thousands of reactions.

That combination of production, personality and an expanding fan base made Cunningham an obvious candidate for a player-exclusive shoe. The enthusiastic response still appeared to leave her impressed. Her brief message made it clear she was grateful to everyone who made the release an immediate success.

Cunningham’s first Adidas PE may no longer be available, but the sellout could open the door for additional releases in the future.
