The District One playoffs conclude this week, with several Bucks County area teams looking to win championships. Others faced must-win games in the playback tournament to secure a PIAA state playoff berth. Check out all the scores, recaps and top performances here, plus photos and matchups for the next round.

Bucks County teams put it all on the line in Tuesday's District One championship​


District One's Class 1A and Class 2A long-awaited championship games were contested Tuesday, after being postponed last Thursday due to rain. Bristol, New Hope-Solebury,Plumstead Christian and Dock Mennonite all competed for district titles and a chance to advance to the PIAA tournament.

In Class 6A, Souderton faced Plymouth Whitemarsh in the semifinals, while North Penn, Neshaminy, Pennsbury and Methacton began the playback tournament, with two teams advancing to the PIAA playoffs. Upper Moreland, already having secured a PIAA Class 5A playoff berth, played Upper Dublin in a third-place seeding game.

District One Class 1A, Championship:​

No. 1 Dock Mennonite 17, No. 2 Plumstead Academy 7

The Pioneers needed just five innings to claim their fourth straight district championship.

Key Plays:​


After taking a 2-0 lead after two innings, the Pioneers scored nine runs in the third inning. Those runs would be necessary as Plumstead went on to score seven times in the fourth and fifth innings. Dock outhit Plumstead 17-7, and a total of 14 unearned runs scored in the game.

Top Performances:​

  • Taelyn Landis, Dock Mennonite: The sophomore was a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
  • Addison Landis, Dock Mennonite: The leadoff hitter had three hits, including a double and a home run, scored three runs and drove in three runs.
  • Bella Taylor, Dock Mennonite: The freshman hit a two-run home run, along with an RBI-single.
  • Olivia Lawrence, Plumstead: She was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

District One Class 2A, Championship:​

No. 1 Bristol 10, No. 2 New Hope-Solebury2

Make it No. 28 in a row for the Warriors, who held off New Hope-Solebury for the second season in a row to win their 28th straight district title. In a rematch of last year's title game, the Warriors quickly took a 7-0 lead after two innings. The Lions put up two runs in the third, but wouldn't get any closer.

Key Plays:​

  • The Warriors started the bottom of the first with two straight singles, followed by Amirah Bell stealing third base and then running home after a throwing error. Three more runs scored on RBI-singles from Luciana Snyder and Cayleigh Januszka, and a sac fly from Kylee Perseponko, giving Bristol a 4-0 lead.

Top Performances:​

  • Brianna Slack, Bristol: The Warriors’ four-year starting pitcher gave up five hits, one walk and no earned runs in a complete-game effort. At the plate, Slack was 2-for-4 with a triple.
  • Peyton McClain, Bristol: The shortstop had two hits and scored three runs.
  • Luciana Snyder, Bristol: Snyder was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
  • Mabel Klossner, New Hope-Solebury: She had two hits, drove in a run and scored one run.

What's Next:​

  • Dock Mennonite and Bristol secured PIAA state playoff berths.

District One Class 6A, Semifinal Round:​

No. 5 Souderton 3, No. 9 Plymouth Whitemarsh 2

Souderton’s pitching duo of freshman Katie Straub and sophomore Madi Mott combined to give up 7 hits and two earned runs, and the Indians’ timely hitting secured a 3-2 win over Plymouth Whitemarsh, despite being outhit 7-4. PW took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, with Souderton chipping away at that lead the next three innings before taking a 3-2 lead in the sixth.

Key Plays:​

  • Emma Lewis hit a solo home run in the fourth inning, and Kiera Fadden’s RBI-double in the fifth tied the game. In the sixth, Ava Detweiler hit a sacrifice fly that scored the go-head run. Mott secured the win in the circle, pitching four scoreless innings.

Did you know?​

  • Souderton’s last appearance in the district semifinals was 2014, when they lost to Avon Grove. That same year, Souderton won the team’s first (and so far, only) state title, defeating Lower Dauphin 8-3 in PIAA Class 4A.

  • Madi Mott, Souderton: The sophomore gave up two hits and two walks in four scoreless innings.
  • Emma Lewis, Souderton: She had two of the Indians’ four hits, drew a walk, scored a run, and drove in a run with a home run.
  • Ava Detweiler, Souderton: Her sac fly in the sixth inning scored the winning run.

No. 2 Owen J. Roberts 3, No. 11 Haverford0


Owen J. Roberts took advantage of two Haverford errors in the first inning, hitting a two-out, three-run home run that would hold as the winning runs in a classic pitcher's duel.

Top Performances:​

  • Maddie Reed, OJR: The sophomore standout gave up a lone hit and a single walk while striking out 10 in a complete-game shutout.
  • Alli Daly, Haverford: The Fords' starter gave up two hits and didn't walk a batter, while striking out six. All three OJR runs were unearned.
  • Bella Winnick, OJR: She hit a three-run home run in the first inning that gave the Wildcats all the runs they'd need.

What's Next:​

  • Souderton and Owen J. Roberts will play in Thursday's District One Class 6A championship game at Spring-Ford High School.
  • Owen J. Roberts is the defending district champion, defeating North Penn in last season's title game.
  • In their regular season meeting, OJR defeated Souderton 6-3 on March 23. It was one of Souderton's (20-3) three losses, the other two coming against North Penn.
  • Owen J. Roberts' (24-1) lone loss was to Boyertown, in a high-scoring 16-14 game on March 11. The Wildcats avenged that loss by defeating Boyertown 13-3 in May.

  • Felicia Connolly, North Penn: The senior gave up four hits and one walk while striking out 10 in a complete game effort.
  • Alana Drummond, North Penn: She was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
  • Cailin Halfpenny, North Penn: The Knights’ leadoff hitter drew two walks, stole a base and scored three runs.
  • Gabby Battavio, North Penn: She drove in two runs and scored one, on a hit and a walk.

No. 10 Methacton at No. 3 Pennsbury, Wednesday at 4 p.m.

What's Next:​

  • North Penn secured a PIAA Class 6A playoff berth; the Knights will play the winner of Pennsbury/Methacton in Thursday's fifth-place seeding game.

District One Class 5A, Third-Place Game:​

No. 5 Upper Dublin at No. 3 Upper Moreland, Wednesday at 4 p.m.
