The New Orleans Saints didn't get their way with Noah Fant last season, but New Orleans successfully brought him into the fold during free agency this time around. The team sealed the deal with a two-year contract worth up to $8.75 million. It's a solid payout for the veteran tight end, who expects to work as a compliment to entrenched starter Juwan Johnson.

Fant has proven just how effective he can be, even in limited action, reeling in 34 of the 38 passes he was targeted on for 288 yards, 13 first downs and three touchdowns. He will have a chance to not only carry that on with the Saints, but to build upon that.

Here's a look at what fans and observers on social media had to say about this move:

Noah Fant signing with the Saints on a two-year deal. Was okay for the Bengals last year, but will be remembered for three fumble-sixes during his time in Cincinnati. https://t.co/6U0GkvVDil

I love what the Saints are doing so far, but I still have no clue why Noah Fant was a Day 1 priority.

Saints adding another pass-catching tight end while their quarterback situation is still unsettled. good piece to have whenever that gets sorted.

Pairing Fant with other skill players strengthens the Saints’ red-zone and passing attack.
